I can’t believe I never left a review for this place near me. Lived in RI for 4 years and I’ve been here more times than I could count. They have the most perfect glazed donuts in the state, maybe in all of New England! I miss them so much. I even miss driving 30 minutes and waiting in the cold just to get a dozen so my family and I can gorge and sit in a sugar coma afterward. A Rhode Island staple!

These were hands down the best donuts I have ever had. We ordered a mixed dozen and my personal faves were the Boston creme and the maple glazed. The frostings were basically freshly whipped and had this creamy texture that bursts with flavor. The donut part was so soft and fresh and pretty much stayed that way for a good few hours. There is apparently a cake style donut that you have to pre order. I’ll have to try that next trip.

I’ve always liked the simple donuts over the new artisan donut shops that have been popping up all over the country. I ordered a half dozen donuts for $7.50: Assorted Sprinkle, Bavarian Creme, Powdered Raspberry, Honey Dip, Maple Raised, Chocolate glazed. As I said before, I love the simple donuts, so my favorite was the Honey Dip. The chocolate glaze was a close second though. They all had a slight crisp on the outside, meaning that they were fresh out of the fryer.

Allie’s lived up to the high expectations. Can’t wait to return. Visting around 10:30 on a sunny Sunday morning the wait was over 1/2 hour, but well well worth it. Part of the fun was standing in line and talking with the other patrons, who are so passionate about Allie’s. Once inside you will see the staff in action, kitchen in full view. Trays of fresh donuts prepared and brought to the front counter getting every couple minutes. Prices were incredible.

This place is iconic, I can’t believe I even have to write a review, can I give it 6 stars??? They tastelike sunshine, rainbows, and home. My favorite is the old fashionedglazed donut sticks and double chocolate. The maple frosting is amazing and the classic raised sprinkle donuts are an absolute must, you can’t go wrong! I’ve had donuts from all over and these are a classic that can not be compared. Get them and you won’t regret it! I love their donuts.

This donut shop has been in business for over 40 years and has served up the best in the state for all that time. As a student at URI I would order 10 dozen donuts for the once a month meeting of the University Commuters’ Association and they would all be eaten in 1 hour’s time.

I definitely recommend going here. The line was a little long but moved along decently and it was worth the wait! The ones with the sprinkles/colored jimmies were the best!

It only takes one to be hooked on Allie’s donuts. Soft, melt in your mouth, a pure taste of heaven. I believe in consistency and for 35+ years Allie’s never disappoints. I recommend two dozen mixed. You must go early, when they are gone there gone!!

Worth the hype. Rhode Island has a lot tourist-y foods (pizza strips, dough boys, quarhogs, etc…) and some are better than others. Allies doughnuts are so so so delicious and worth the rave reviews. I especially liked the maple ones!

I used to come here when I was in school at RISD and I’m so glad I came back again now during my
Homecoming with my friends. Same great taste and same friendly staff, very knowledgeable high schoolers. They only accept card and you can download online the folded menu, it’s the same one as the copy that they will let you look at wrapped in plastic as there are no writings on the shelves with the donuts. Definitely a must visit when in RI!
